The Twenty-Dollar Bill

Join me in an effort to have Andrew Jackson replaced by Eleanor Roosevelt on the US $20 bill. Why? Andrew Jackson's administration was by far the most genocidal in US history. Jackson must not only bear responsibility for the brutal deaths of an amazing percentage of many Indian tribes, but also for committing blatantly illegal usurpations of territory, including the destruction of the Cherokee Nation, a sovereign nation within our midst. Jackson was also responsible for creating an atmosphere of extreme political partisanship that has persisted until today. For this he's celebrated on commonly-used currency? On the other hand, Eleanor Roosevelt was one of the most-admired women of all time, and deserves recognition for her admirable legacy. She championed civil rights and other important issues even at frank risks to her own life. It's time we recognized heroes on our currency, not monsters. Join me in writing your representatives, senators and the president to urge this change.
